This is a delightful walk among the wooded hills and vineyards of
the one-time principality of Masserano, in the Piedmont of Northern
Italy. It is an all day affair, and the 8 kilometres can be taken
in a leisurely manner, (it is absolutely non-competitive.) The walk
is interspersed by six stops along the way where one can sit and
sample typical local dishes, savour the local wines, and enjoy live
music.
The day finishes up in the 13th century square of Masserano's Borgo
Antico where a folk group sings songs in dialect while under the
medieval porticos farmers sell local products such as cheeses, salamis
and honey.
A sommelier from the Enoteca of Roppolo (where there is a permanent
display of wines,) will lead a wine tasting session of selected
local wines.
